Last night while I was wandering about the city of Chicago with some of the people I have met here, namely Andy and Bridget, we happened upon the movie Wanted being shot. This was only after we were asked for directions by Federico Pucciarello and Tim Ryan, from Argentina and Ireland respectively, who played for the Munster Rugby team. (Edit: Munster didn’t like me linking to their site. URL: http://www.munsterrgby.ie/97_88.php ) Nice fellas. In addition to Wanted being shot currently, The Dark Night is also filming on location. Some sort of helicopter scene down by Navy Pier. Which, after the party, is first on our list of things to do. I’ve uploaded some of the good shots that I’ve taken so far to Flickr.

Meanwhile those crazy French have a high speed rail capable of 574.8 kph, or about 357 mph for us English types. The french aren’t the only ones with high speed trains though. The Japanese first started the high-speed train movement in the 1960’s with a train that was capable of 130 mph. For comparison, the high speed trains in the US today go about 150 mph.

Trains have multiple advantages such as; lower boarding time, fewer security checkpoints and less carry on luggage restrictions. By the time you factor in time spent at the gate and waiting in the security line at the airport, the average speed for a one hour flight drops considerably.

So would you ride a high speed train, or would you fly?

Somehow we survived traffic of the city. Honestly, I have never seen such selfish drivers in all of my life.  Some man in a Ford F-250 took it upon himself to just drive straight at our car until he was mere inches from us. Only for preservation of our own vehicle did we stop and give him the appropriate courtesy’s did we then continue on our way.  Also, I thought that construction season was over but clearly thats not the case as we were in 4 traffic jams today and none of them were because of an accident.  My favorite traffic jam was because there was a sigh up that said “left lane merge” but the left lane was open the whole time. Lame.

Well, here’s to a good game tomorrow! Lets hope that the rain holds off!
