I had a span where I kept bookmarking cool ideas, color schemes, navigations, etc. and thought I was going to be nifty and incorporate them all into my site. The resulting layout was neat, but it really didn't work with the content I wanted so it never got launched. I'll be taking advantage of my web design project time in Publications this semester to redo the site again with emphasis on function over form. Definitely map out what your site needs before doing any design or code work.
